Use Case: How Clayton’s Septic Pumping Uses AirVote to Stay on Track in Real Time

Clayton’s Septic Pumping & Porta Potty Rentals is a family-owned business based in Dunlap, Tennessee. Known for both septic services and porta potty rentals, the company is run by David and Tiffany Clayton. Their commitment to dependable service has earned them a strong reputation across the Sequatchie Valley and beyond.

The Challenge

Like many portable restroom operators, David was searching for a better way to track units in the field. His initial goal was straightforward:

  • Keep track of serial numbers for each portable restroom.
  • Ensure drivers were completing services and deliveries on time.
  • Gain real-time confirmation that each unit had been checked without relying on paper logs or phone calls.

The AirVote Solution

In 2024, David turned to AirVote and began applying a unique QR code to each portable restroom. His drivers now use the AirVote Android app to scan units, log activity, and capture photos when needed.

Key Features in Use:

  • Real-Time Scans: Each scan instantly shows whether a unit has been serviced or delivered.
  • Photos When Needed: Drivers capture images if there’s an issue or during a delivery setup.
  • Map Tracking: The live AirVote map is David’s go-to feature, showing “logged” vs. “not logged” units at a glance.
  • Offline Mode: Even in rural Tennessee, where internet coverage is limited, the Android app continues to work offline. Data syncs automatically once connectivity is restored.
  • Yard Check-In: A newer feature for registering units before deployment — still in adoption, but promising for efficiency.

Results

“For me, knowing that the porta has been scanned and then being able to receive those in real time helps make sure we are on track. We do the pictures sometimes, mainly if there is an issue, but sometimes when we set them. We are still getting used to the yard check-in. I forget it often, I think it will take a little time. I use the map more than anything. The feature ‘logged or not logged’ especially.”David Clayton

Benefits realized:

  • Accountability: Real-time scans confirm services and deliveries.
  • Visibility: The live map reduces uncertainty in field operations.
  • Efficiency: “Logged vs. not logged” saves time over manual tracking.
  • Flexibility: Offline mode ensures uninterrupted operation in areas with low signal strength.
  • Documentation: Photos help document issues and protect against disputes.
